LA Retreats with Beymen

Today, Beymen Club and I are going on a route through my special urban retreats from the city.

Beymen Club dress.

Most of my childhood and adult life has been spent in quiet suburbia, where highways were lined with forests and the air was crisp. City life is something I admire for its novelty, but my comfort lies in the serenity of nature. I love Los Angeles because it’s a beautiful blend of city life, suburbia, and, at just a short drive away, complete idyllic solitude. But on days when I need a break between work, I’ve found a few local destinations I call my urban retreats.

On an overcast day where the sun is barely peeking through the clouds, the wide road of Comstock in Beverly Hills looks like something from the scenic Carolinas. The sidewalks are lined with towering trees and thick hedges that encompass your peripherals in greenery. Long walks on this road help me to clear my head and recharge for the day.

A rough day may call for an indulgent time-off, so at times like these I drive up the hill to a little oasis called Hotel Bel Air. The beautiful 5-star hotel is nestled in the luxurious neighborhood of Bel Air in Beverly Hills and it is a remarkable, secluded paradise. Lush gardens with ponds, charming bridges, and their famous swan lake lend to the utmost romance that Hotel Bel Air embodies. It’s simply a fairy tale to stroll through the gardens when the sun is close to dusk. I come here to sit in the lounge for a nice simple pot of tea while I work away on my iPad, but they also offer a decadent high tea service in their signature Wolfgang Puck restaurant that isn’t to be missed.

When I really want to get away, I cruise along the scenic mountain road of Mulholland Drive near sun down. The winding road guides you through the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Hills high above and behind Los Angeles, sharing its most spectacular views of the city and beyond. The urban landscape is lying on the horizon, with a few mansions sprinkled here and there among the hills. A Mulholland Drive scene is a breathtaking moment that is quintessential to experiencing LA. Pull off at one of many viewing points, grab a light jacket, and soak in the sights, as there’s nothing more inspiring than the glowing sunset that paints across the clouds and skies.
